I was sitting on the couch when Zoe came down the stairs into the living room, she leaned over the arm of the couch towards me and said, “Staceeeeeee” the way she does when she wants something, “we should go on a dinner date.” She continued. “And have banana splits.” She said very matter-of-factly.
She then put her shoes on, grabbed her purse, and announced she was ready to go.
The only problem? It was well before lunch time… and I’m not really sure where she learned about banana splits.
Aunt Stacee has a hard time saying no so we made plans for a banana split dinner date when it was actually dinner time.
While Zoe took a nap that afternoon, I made my way to the Arts District in DTLA to explore and shoot a little film. If you remember, one of my goals this year was to shoot for myself and in doing that I’ve picked up a film camera and am forcing myself to sloooooow down and shoot intentionally. It’s exciting really, and waiting for the scans to come back is like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Here is a little peek into my afternoon wandering the Arts District downtown… and only the second time I’ve ever shared film scans on the blog. 😀
As it got close to dinner time I made my way back home to pick up my date.Jack asked if he could come along, Zoe has a huge soft spot for Jack so she agreed, but mom and Phoebe were NOT invited. And yes, I am that mean aunt who says you have to stand here, smile and let me take 3 pictures before we get any ice cream. When 3 year olds dress themselves for dates. ♥Being an aunt is the best.
These were shot on Portra 160, 35mm, processed at Richard Photo Lab.
