She’s from Chicago. He grew up in a small town in Iowa. Stephanie came to southern California for school and Ben, a marine, is stationed at a base in Oceanside. Then their paths crossed, and they’ve been together ever since. Because of the drive, and the traffic, they don’t see each other as often as they’d like but they’re cherishing every moment they can get together now.

Stephanie contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I’d photograph her and Ben before he leaves on his second tour of Afghanistan. What better way to commemorate them before a long separation than with a fun photo session together.

We started our shoot in a field, to give the photos the feel of Ben’s hometown in Iowa.

I know this photo isn’t my “usual” style, but I really love the way this one looks. What do you think?

Then we headed to the Trump National Golf Course for a quick location change.

Stephanie and Ben, thank you so much for allowing me to capture a few moments in your relationship together. I will be praying for you both as this long deployment starts. Ben, for your safety and Stephanie for your strength. Thank you both for serving our country in ways civilians can’t even imagine.
